Making Hinkelsteins!

Here we are making Hinkelsteins! Now that Mommy is on a kick to feed us good food (i.e. not so many processed crackers), we get to help make the snacks! Hinkelsteins are kind of like chewy granola bars...and she found the recipe in the More-with-Less Cookbook.

Flour (gluten free), oat flour, soy flour, flax, raisins, prunes, dates, honey, salt and milk. It makes a huge ball of dough that we get to taste (because there are no raw eggs in it) and pound down into the pans. It's fun. And we like to stick our fingers into it and make holes. It's okay, though. Mommy makes us wash our hands first.

Apparently our little guy was drawing with colored markers at the table with such focus that he fell off the chair and landed on his head. What do you expect with two artists as parents. Good thing he has a hard head. Really, it's very hard and thick. He was laughing about it moments later. And back to his drooling (slang for drawing).

It really is NOT necessary to buy the kiddos any gifts for Christmas. We want to teach them to love Christmas for the traditions, Advent, the story of Jesus, and special time with family.

BUT, some of you have been asking, and a FEW little tangible gifties never really hurt anyone, right? Please keep in mind that toys/books can be 'new to them' and enjoyed just as much as if they were actually 'new'.
